How to set up a projector at home for under $1000
We are going to make a dummy purchase here to demonstrate that you can have a very good projection system complete with a good projector, a premium Bose Soundbar and projector screen all for under $1000-. The components selected this budget home projector setup are all of good quality and will give a superb projector image of 100 inches with sound to match.

Our choice of projector is the Epson model 2150. This is a superb projector for a discounted price of $749- at the end of April 2020. Details of this projector are as follows.
Epson Home Cinema 2150 Wireless, 1080p Miracast, 3LCD projector for a price of $749. The main specifications of this projector are as follows:
- Full HD 1080p Projector
- Bright 2,500 Lumens output
- Contrast Ratio: 60,000:1
- Wireless screen mirroring : mirror photos, videos and apps using Miracast
- Stream movies, games and more — from wireless or wired HDMI devices — with 2x HDMI ports, USB, Miracast and MHL (2) support.
- 3LCD technology, Brighter picture compared to DLP projector and no rainbow effect like in DLP projectors.
- Has Vertical Lens Shift, 1.6x Zoom and a built in 10 W speaker. This makes the projector very easy to install like in the picture below
This projector can also be mounted on the ceiling with Cieling mount brackets available on amazon. Such ceiling mount brackets plus installation including a long HDMI cable (50 feet) will cost about $250-, but is not included in our projector kit here within a $1000- budget. The advantage of having such a ceiling mount projector is evident from the picture shown below.

This is an excellent quality 100 inch screen from the famous Projector Screen brand 'Elite Screens'. It is a 100 inch 16:9 Projection Screen with Slow Retract Mechanism M100H and is capable capable to screen even 8K and 4K Ultra HDR HD Movies. The price on Amazon in April 2020 is $62.99
BOSE soundbar for projector home theater system
The soundbar selected for our $1000 budget projector home theater system is the premium soundbar Bose Solo 5 TV Soundbar. This is an ideal soundbar for medium sized rooms and has a Universal Remote Control to operate it. The discounted Price on Amazon as at the end of April 2020 is $179
Thus the components required for our premium budget home theater with a projector costs a total of $990.99 ($749 + $62.99 + $179.00). This demonstrates that it is quite possible to enjoy big projector pictures within the comfort of your home for a budget of just $1000-. It is a much better option than trying to buy a bigger than 65 inches TV.
How dark room needs to be for Projector viewing
For Projector viewing it is not necessary to have totally dark rooms. With a projector of over 1000 Lumens, a 100 inch projector picture will look good in a room with curtains drawn. The thing to understand is that with just a 400 Lumen bright projector you can get a bright 100 inch picture if the room is fully dark. If you have projectors in the 2000 Lumen plus range, the pictures are bright and can be seen even in rooms without the curtains being drawn during daytime.
Setting up a projector at home is very easy. The following video should give you some idea of how easy it is to set up and watch movies and TV shows on a projector at home. The Epson projector model 2030 shown in the video is an older model. The Epson 2150, chosen in our budget set up above has more features like lens-shift and is also a much newer model.
